Profhilo
If you are new to cosmetic treatments and want to achieve a more subtle look than dermal fillers, PROFHILO (skin tightening) may be the best treatment to improve and maintain the quality of your skin.
Sagging skin and noticing wrinkles can cause a lot of stress
It is inevitable that a lot of things change as we age. Our skin starts to sag, we start to notice wrinkles where there weren’t any before, and our hair turns grey. These changes can cause a lot of stress in a person’s life and greatly influence our self-esteem. Ageing and other skin conditions occur due to a significant decrease in the skin’s collagen and elastin production. One way to combat skin conditions is to use treatments that encourage collagen and elastin production.
Aging is natural
Ageing is a natural thing, as are the feelings of stress and anxiety that come with it. Even one new wrinkle or sag in the face can majorly blow your self-confidence. The effects of ageing can leave you feeling like you’re not beautiful or like people are judging you. This may stop you from going out and enjoying yourself, appearing in photographs, or even leaving the house in general!
If you are new to cosmetic treatments and want to achieve a more subtle look than dermal fillers, PROFHILO (skin tightening) may be the best treatment to improve and maintain the quality of your skin. Profhilo is safe, clean, effective and a breakthrough in anti-ageing medicine. It is not a filler but a Hyaluronic Acid gel with innovative bio-remodelling properties. It generates four types of collagen and elastin along with it, thus making it an effective treatment for skin laxity. It is, therefore, highly biocompatible because it is designed using natural hyaluronic acid without adding chemical cross-linking agents. It sorts out the dehydration problem while restoring the skin’s natural glow.
Profhilo complements all other cosmetic or aesthetic procedures
It helps with skin rejuvenation and repair, as it lifts and gives your face a defined look, eliminating fine lines, expression lines, and wrinkles while smoothing out sagging skin. Profhilo complements all other cosmetic or aesthetic procedures by significantly improving the skin texture and supporting the structures underneath.
Aftercare will be discussed during your consultation. As with any injectable product, there is always a risk of minor bruising and swelling at the injection site, which normally resolves within 24 hours. You can usually return to work immediately after your treatment.
What Are Biostimulators?
Biostimulators are an advanced category of injectable treatments designed to gradually and naturally improve skin quality, volume, and elasticity. Unlike traditional dermal fillers that simply “fill” lines and wrinkles with a substance like hyaluronic acid, biostimulators work by “stimulating” your body’s own collagen production.
Think of it this way:
- Dermal Fillers: Act like a temporary pillow, propping up wrinkles and adding volume directly.
- Biostimulators: Act like a seed, sending a signal to your skin to build its own supportive structure (collagen) over time.
The active ingredients in biostimulators (such as Poly-L-Lactic Acid, Calcium Hydroxylapatite, or other polymers) create a microscopic scaffold under the skin. This triggers a natural wound-healing response, encouraging your fibroblasts (the cells that produce collagen) to get to work. The result is a more natural, progressive, and longer-lasting restoration of facial contours and a reduction in wrinkles.
Commonly Used Biostimulators:
- Sculptra® (Poly-L-Lactic Acid)
- HarmonyCA® – Hybrid injectable (Calcium Hydroxyapatite and Hyaluronic Acid)
- Radiesse® (Calcium Hydroxylapatite)
What to Expect During and After Treatment
The Consultation:
This is the most crucial first step. Your qualified medical professional will assess your skin, discuss your goals, and determine if you are a good candidate. They will create a personalized treatment plan, which often involves a series of sessions for optimal results.
The Procedure:
- Preparation: The treatment area will be cleansed, and a topical numbing cream may be applied for comfort.
- The Injection: Using a fine needle or cannula, the practitioner will carefully inject the product into the deep dermis or subcutaneous layer of the skin. The procedure typically takes 30-60 minutes.
- Post-Injection Massage: Immediately after the injection, your practitioner will massage the area to ensure even distribution of the product. You will also be instructed to massage the area at home for several days.
The Results Timeline:
- Immediately After: You may see some initial volumizing effect from the water in the product carrier, and there might be mild swelling.
- First Few Weeks: The initial effect subsides. This is a normal part of the process as the carrier is absorbed, and your body begins its collagen-building phase.
- Weeks to Months: You will begin to notice a gradual improvement in skin thickness, elasticity, and volume. Results develop over several weeks to a few months.
- Longevity: Because biostimulators work by stimulating your own collagen, the results are long-lasting, typically between 1 to 3 years, depending on the product used and your individual metabolism.
Are There Risks Involved?
As with any medical procedure, biostimulators carry potential risks. However, when performed by an experienced and qualified injector, the procedure is generally considered safe. Choosing a skilled professional is the single most important factor in minimizing risks.
Common, Temporary Side Effects:
(These usually resolve within a few days to a week)
- Swelling, redness, and tenderness at the injection sites · Bruising · Itching · Minor lumps or bumps (often mitigated by proper post-treatment massage)
Less Common Risks & Complications:
- Nodules or Granulomas: Small, firm bumps under the skin that may form weeks or months later. These are a known risk with biostimulators and may require medical treatment.
- Infection
- Allergic Reaction
- Asymmetry
- Migration of Product: If not injected correctly or without proper massage.
It is essential to disclose your full medical history and any medications you are taking to your provider to mitigate these risks.
Aftercare: Ensuring Optimal Results
Proper aftercare is critical for achieving the best possible outcome and reducing the risk of complications.
Immediately After Treatment (First 24-48 Hours):
- Massage as Directed: Gently massage the treated area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for the first 5 days. This is vital to ensure even product distribution and prevent clumping.
- Apply Cool Compresses: Use a cold pack (never ice directly on the skin) to reduce swelling and bruising.
- Avoid Strenuous Exercise: For at least 24-48 hours to minimize swelling
- Sleep on Your Back: Try to avoid putting pressure on the treated areas.
- Avoid Makeup: For at least 12 hours to let the injection sites heal and reduce infection risk.
First Two Weeks:
- Avoid Excessive Heat: Stay away from saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, and prolonged sun exposure.
- Use Sun Protection: Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily to protect your healing skin.
- Be Gentle: Avoid facials, chemical peels, or aggressive skincare on the treated area.
- Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water supports the collagen-building process.
Follow-up:
Attend all scheduled follow-up appointments. This allows your provider to assess your progress and determine if any touch-up treatments are needed to perfect your results.
